Defelsko PosiTest DFT Combo Overview

When it comes to removing imperfections such as scratches, swirls, etching, etc. from the paint finish, there's no better and effective tool as a machine polisher. However, this task can be quite daunting when you don't have a clear idea of how much paint is actually on the car. Without proper understanding of how much paint is on the car, you may not know how much correction is possible and if polishing blindly, you may remove too much clear coat and actually damage the paint surface requiring a new paint job. Defelsko is a leading U.S. manufacturer of coating thickness gauges and inspection instruments. They have been providing simple, durable, and accurate gauges for professionals since 1966. I use my PosiTest DFT Combo daily. This tool helps me get an idea of the current condition of the paint and whether or not the vehicle is a good candidate for paint correction. What I like about this unit is the ability to change between measurements giving me both microns and mils reading. By measuring various panels, I get a better understanding of the amount of paint still on the car, whether or not the vehicle has been repainted, and an overall visualization of the paint thickness. Another great feature of the DFT Combo is reading both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. This makes this tool versatile and an excellent value. Simply put, this is a must-have tool if you're serious about polishing your car or need precise measurement of the paint condition. This unit is well built, has an excellent warranty, and is backed by a company here in the US that's been around for over 40 years. Well worth the investment.
